which Electra® needs to function properly. In Windows XP,
MDAC is already included in the operating system. When you
install the long version of the Electra® Trial program, the
above error will be generated. However, it will not affect
the installation and Electra® will be able to function
without problems. |

Can Electra™ 2005 function without
Visio®?
|
|
|
No, Electra™ 2005 is a Microsoft® Visio®
solution (add-in) and requires Microsoft® Visio® to
function.

What is the difference between the trial
version and the release version?
|
|
|
The trial version is limited to 30 days
and will cease to function after the trial period. On the
release version, there is an additional stencil for IEC
parts. |

After installation, I cannot use the
tools provided by Electra™ 2005.
|
|
By default, Microsoft® Visio® is set to
high security level and the user will be prompted to run a
macro every time Electra™ 2005 operates. When a user clicks
no, Electra™ 2005 will cease to function. To enable and use
the tools provided by Electra™, set Visio® to low security
level by selecting from the menu Tools | Macros | Security,
and on the Security Level tab, select low security (does not
applies to Visio® 2000).
Also make sure the item 'Enable Automation Events' on Tools
| Options | Security menu is checked. |

I already have CAD symbols in AutoCad,
can I import them into Electra™ 2005 or Visio®?
|
|
Yes, Microsoft® Visio® comes with
extensive import filters from major file formats and
drawings from other CAD systems can be easily imported to
Visio®. Once imported and converted, these symbols and
drawings can be used in Electra™ 2005 to create native
symbols using Create Schematic Symbols or Create Layout
shape. |

Can I export Electra™ 2005 drawings into
other format?
|

Yes, Microsoft® Visio® also comes with
extensive export filters for major file formats including
dwg, dxf, jpg, gif, html and many many more.

I encountered a problem during
installation, what can I do?
|
|
Your can do a manual installation by
following the steps listed below:
- Unzip Electra 2005.14.zip or Electra2005.14.exe to a
temporary folder. Use WinZip to unzip the contents of
ETrial.cab to the same temporary folder.
- Run 'mdac_type.exe' which is the Microsoft® Data
Access Components Installer and complete the
installation.
- Using My Computer, browse to 'C:\Program
Files\Radica\Electra\'. If this folder does not exist,
create it EXACTLY as shown.
- From the temporary folder, copy the following 7
files to 'c:\Program Files\Radica\Electra\' :
- Electra.chm
- Tour.chm
- Electra.mdb
- TEULA.txt
- Electra DOL Sample.vsd
- Electra Page Prefix Sample.vsd
- Electra.vss
- Find and search for the Visio® solutions folder
which is by default 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visioxx\xxxx\Solutions'
and copy the following files from the temporary folder
to this Visio® solutions folder :
- Electra Template 2005.vst
- Electrical V3.0.vss
- JIC V3.0.vss
- IEC Symbols.vss
- Layout V3.0.vss
- Reports V3.0.vss
- Title V3.0.vss
- Create shortcuts on your Start menu for the
following files :
- Electra.chm - Electra 2005 Help File
- Tour.chm - Electra Quick Tour
- TEULA.txt - Trial Version End User License
